EKpass Performs Shovel Operations Assessment, Operator Training, and One-On-One Coaching for Supervisors

EKpass has completed four phases of assessments, training, and one on one coaching for shovel operators and shovel supervisors. The primary focus was shovel operations, in addition observations were made regarding overall site operations.

 

A benchmark of knowledge was assessed for all operators and supervisors. The benchmark of knowledge is beneficial for displaying acquired knowledge through training, resulting in improved safety, increased production, and improvement in the bottom line. Observation of all current shovel operator’s activities in the normal course of operations allowed for reporting to IOC with recommendations for improved productivity.

 

IOC is a leading Canadian producer of iron ore concentrate and iron ore pellets that serves customers worldwide. The company operates a mine, a concentrator and a pelletising plant in Labrador City, Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as port facilities in Sept-Îles, Quebec.
